With four persons on board, we fished out of Geneva-on-the-Lake this past Monday. It was the worst day of Walleye fishing I can remember. We ended up with only two Walleye (and two steelhead knock offs) after pounding the water the whole day. Eight lines out the whole time. Threw everything I had at those fish, from worm harnesses, to stingers, to NK #28s. Even ran some bomber long A's around sunrise when it was overcast. With the exception of the bombers, we tried everything at every depth imaginable. Behind mini-dipsys, off the down riggers, you name it. Nothing seemed to work. We were just west of the cooling towers, in about 62 ft of water and marking fish like crazy. But no action.
No one else seemed to be doing any better. For that matter, it seems like no one is having much luck in that area this year.

Now I don't claim to be the best Walleye fisherman, but in past years I ussually do alright fishing those waters (avg. about 5 fish per person in a day).

Does anyone have any ideas as to why the fishing is so bad this year? I can't help but think something's up especially given the fact that they bumped the daily limit back down to six fish. I always did think a ten fish limit was extreme. But then again, we were marking plenty of fish.
