Plan on leaving the old MicroTrack 6100 (who was born before it came out?).Love the demo's of the 2000 but am told that the bottom graphics are not vey accurate, cannot tell fish from other stuff. The advantages of the unit are the ability to map new water at high speed as well as the resolution (except for bottom?) are very good (3200 vs 3000 which is miniscule difference)

Any ideas or recomendations? By the way, I stopped at the PinPoint booth at the Mpls boat show and got a holier than thou attitude, check the web site(which doesn't work) and don't bother us with any questions cuz we are better than ...... This does not a sale make.

Thanks for advice.

I've been watching for several weeks hoping someone out there knows something about the Zircom LPG 2000. From a previous thread, I've gathered the new X15 is supposed to have a SLOW screen.. But I have not heard anything about the LPG, besides it is kind of 'fuzzy' when you look at it... I agree on the fuzzy part when you are 1-2 feet away, but at normal viewing distance it seems pretty good.

Anyone out there know anything about the LPG 2000?

I ran the LPG 200 last season. They are the finest LCD sonar unit I have ever used. The resolution is incredible, the sweep speed is awesome. The units are easy to use. Push one button and turn a knob. These units do everything you need them too and nothing more. Who needs to play music on there depth finder?

The LPG 2000 is a great choice.

Keep the line tight,

I fished with an LPG 2000 and the screen appeared fuzzy to my eyes anyway. I also thought the backlighting was terrible. It lost bottom contact at cruising speed, but this could have been transducer placement. Although I've heard this from others too.

The slow speed on the x-15 is because of the simulater mode. Real world speed is the best of any Lowrance unit from what I've been told. I'm still waiting to actually see one on the water before I buy it, but I've heard from someone who did side by side on-the-water tests with all the major brands on the market, that the x-15 is the "real deal". Hope it really is that good. I do know the clarity and lighting are awesome.

I heard the same thing from a sales guy at the Mpls. boat show. The X-15 demo is really a recording from a real lake instead of a simulation with bogus fish arches. You can't speed the demo up, since its playing back at the speed in which it was recorded, which seems pretty slow. I think they may have done this to get maximum detail for the demo, but thats just my guess. According to the guy I spoke with, maximum scroll speed is 20 pixels a second, which is much faster than the demo for sure.

I'm nearly sold on this unit, I liked everything about it. Now if I could just decide between a new Minn Kota Autopilot or MotorGuide Excel trolling motor...

TJC-

At Chicago show, Lowrance rep told me the same, but did say he runs both X85 and new X15 and the X15 is still slightly slower than the X85- for whatever thats worth, I'm buying the 15!

Thanks much for the replies, as diverse as they may be. The X15
hasn't entered into my thoughts but is a consideration.

With the advent of the Eagle line coming in models are getting confused. I also, besides the MicroTrack, have a low end eagle
which I am not impressed with.

Something I had not considered (but run across it on the ice alot is interference from multiple units. That was something PinPoint stressed as an advantage.

I run Zircom on ice and am happy. Can put multiples of it, vexlar and others close and still filter OK. A Lowrence rep is a friend
but objective so any more info to sway me? (I have not considered Bottom Line at all, should I?)

My MicroTrack is 1983 and I sure would like the next one to
outlast it for the grandkids.

Thanks

I ran the lpg 2000 all last year and am quite impressed! Like Johnny said, the unit is very easy to use and the large knobs make it easy to adjust while trolling or running down the lake. No buttons to worry about sticking open or shut. I've used the lowrances' x55 up to x85, bottomline, and eagle, but none impress me as much as the zercom. The arches are for real. Excellent clarity in both light and dark. The transducer set-up took me awhile to get mounted just right, after losing readings at higher speed (30+). The new additional settings (which are found on their website) helped minimize bottom loss when cruising. The tech support was also very helpful.
I like the fact that there isn't 15 or 20 buttons staring you in the eye, which many don't get used anyway, but you pay for them!

Take care,

Brad
