This is my first year fishing this lake and I am having a heck of a time catching a walleye. I don't get to spend more than an hour or two on the lake at a time do to family obligations. So where and what can I do to get the stink off my boat and catch a walleye?

Hi! I just moved to Rapids in January myself. From what I understand, during the summer months the walleyes suspend and you need to troll cranks at night out in open water. The Tioga Bay area is supposed to be good although I haven't had the time to try this presentation. I was told by a fellow I met here who has fished here all his life that even the pro's like the Glorvigan Bro's don't spend much time on Pokegema due to the tough bite. I have been fishing mostly Winnie all year and been doing quite well. if your new to town and looking for someone to share a boat with once in a while that would be great. I really know very few folks here yet and wouldn't mind finding a few fishing buds. I have a good rig and take this stuff pretty serious, just a warning.....All kidding aside, I work out of my house, am in sales, and fish quite a bit. Email me. Who knows? Maybe we're neighbors and don't even know it!

Hi, I live just down the road from the lake. It is a tough lake to fish especially with all the recreational traffic etc. I have found that there are alot of walleyes that live in the cabbage weeds, and sand grass. I was out at dusk the other night and caught fish in 10-11 feet trolling #5 shad raps 120 feet behind the boat. There are also fish that do suspend as there are alot of smelt in the lake. I do think your chances of catching walleye consistantly are in the weeds. Just my opinion however. I to have got discouraged and found that my fishing time is so limited that my time is better served fishing Winnie,Bowstring and Leech. If your ever out on Pokegama and see a old Gray and Red Crestliner with a Johnson Tiller stop and say hello. I would post my e-mail address but afraid I'll get spamed to death again. Good Luck,Jim

Hey, Drop me a line. My email is listed. As I stated above, I'm new to town and sure wouldn't mind sharing my boat with someone occasionally. I'm starting to get to know Winnie pretty well. What a great lake! Also like to hit Milacs once in a while to get my big fish needs taken care of. Outstanding so far this year.

My cabin is off the sherry arm and I run a 1775 white Skeeter with a yamaha tiller. Where did you pull those shads in 10 feet of water and what color did you use? I have been told #13 floating raps are the only thing that catches anything
