89. "RE: CANADIAN NETTERS HELP!!!!!!"
I have been writting letters to all kinds of legislatures and managers since 1995. What became obvious was the need to unite, So a couple of friends helped me to formed the Northcoast Sportfishing Council, We presently have 8 organizations involved. Lake Erie is our principal concern, we have been instrumental in getting the Smallmouth limit reduced from 8 to 5. Still trying to get a closed season on the lake and to get a co-op walleye stocking program started. We got Senator brady intrested in writting a BALLAST WATER BILL. Have tried to arrange a buy-out of our netters during spawning season. Been trying to get the state more interested in the Cormorant --for years. I'm doing the best that I can and for a couple of years have been trying to get other states involved with our group. Maybe I will make some progress soon. Recently I wrote to Fishcrazy about a petition or a letter writing campaign.--Am trying to cover all bases--I am of the opinion that there are not nearly as many walleyes in the lake and have been trying to get our managers to greatly lower the total allowable catch. LOTS OF ISSUES---NEED HELP--Tom Mayher
