View Full Version : Islands Walleye
Heading up to Port Clinton to do some walleye fishing for only the second time this year. Judging by the recent posts, it seems that there are still quite a few fish being caught near Middle Sister and West Sister, as well as Vermillion/Lorain. I was wondering if anything is being caught closer to the islands to avoid the long run in a fairly small boat. If not, how far is it to Middle Sister from Marblehead? Any info would be appreciated.

I'm not sure of the distance from Marblehead, but from the mouth of the Portage River, I have been fishing 17 miles out, due north. There is a lot of fish here. If you would like to avoid a long run, consider taking the ferry over to South Bass, and launching from there. I got a tip from a friend of mine that he has been pulling nice catches from just northwest of Rattlesnake. He has been casting weight forwards, and pulling several 26 to 28 inch fish. Good luck.
I fished South of East Sister on Saturday and got 8. The fish seemed to be near the bottom and most of them came on firetiger harnesses. All fish were between 18-22 inches.

Thanks for the info. I'm heading up tomorrow and will let you know how we do. Hopefully we can get into some fish, I don't have the chance to fish Erie as much as I would like.
