rod sensitivity testing

I will be going to a local sportsmans show today and I want to look at many different rods. How about some input on different methods you guys use when testing rods for sensitivity and other quality issues? Thanks

Nothing scientific here, but always had a friend hold the rod tip lightly by his throat and talk while I hold the rod by the grip and feel for vibrations.
