I plan on launching here next weekend for a couple of days of trolling for eyes.Could anyone give me co ordinates for the sand bar, what compass setting and how far is it from the launch? Also what depth are the eyes this time of the year.I talk to a fellow last week who said he trolled near the shore east and west around the launch and picked up 11 eyes in a few hours in the evening. I know this is a lot of info to ask but this is my maiden voyage on my own.I fished for 15 years with charter Capt`s.Also does the hot waters have a dock there after you dump your boat in.Any help is really appreciated and God Bless America..Thank You eyecatcher@charter.net

I'd recommend contacting George's Bait in Lorain. He is in daily contact with the guides on Erie. I believe the store's # is 282-2660. I haven't been out fishing for walleye lately so I don't want to stear you wrong. The Hot Waters launch does not offer dockage but Spitzer Marina on the Black River does. Don't rely on too much of the info that you get from the Hot Water's bait store. They've mislead me in the past but George's never has.

I fished 3 days last week never put a walleye line in the water. The Perch are in and they are thick. Not many people are fishing for eyes so the reports are down.Did here a of a few off the west side of the bar.The sand bar starts about 5 miles off Beaver Park. You might try to get a dock at Beaver in Lorain or at Romps in Vermilion.I'll try to remember to get the #s off my gps for the south end of the bar.
Good Luck

i forgot, the numbers for the south end of the sandbar is 4130.35N over 8219.23W, but this can shift depending on the wind and wave action, but very little. good luck and good fishin.
