Hey guys, I like my fishing as well as anyone, but a few weeks ago I had the opportunity to regain my respect for the water. The forecast for Erie this weekend is awful and can kill people. Forecasting gales and 7 to 10 foot waves. Click on this site to view the near shore marine forecast. http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/forecasts/marine/near_shore/le/lez144.txt Hope this averts a tragedy. When I see people asking about ramps, I have to wonder if they are familiar with Erie enough to respect what it can do. Please err on the side of caution. Be safe. The fishing might be great but not worth the risk that sometimes accompanies the pursuit.

Excellent advice from the previous posts. Just want to add that with the Lake Erie water temperature at 59 degrees in Toledo and 63 in Cleveland hypothermia is a real threat if someone were to fall in now. At 50 to 60 degrees exhaustion or unconsciousness is likely in 1 to 2 hours and expected time of survival is 1 to 6 hours. At at 40 to 50 degrees exhaustion or unconsciousness is likely in 30 to 60 minutes and expected time of survival is 1 to 3 hours. As water temperature drops so do these times. Please be careful and safe.
