I have fished the Ohio River the last two weekends . The first weekend I fished the mouth of Straight Creek , Redoak , Whiteoak and the mouth of Three Mile all good sauger spots . I didn't catch a fish nor did I see any saugers caught. Last weekend I fished Greenup locks which is east past Porstmouth , Ohio . I caught two small saugers and saw three other small ones caught . The water temp was 57 degrees which is just about right . The local guys I talked to said that there was a huge fish kill at Greenup this summer . They were trying to kill the zebra mussel in the power plants intake . They told me they saw alot of dead drum and flatheads , some flatheads over 70 lbs . Also you can no longer fish the wall at Greenup they have moved the signs and markers because of the ragheads . I have not been to Meldal yet nor have I talked to anyone who has hopefully the fish kill hasn't hurt that part of the river . This is the first year in many that I haven't seen alot of boats at the mouths of the creeks listed above , mostly locals , so maybe it is true about the fish kill or maybe the fish just haven't turned on yet . I am going to try again Sunday . I will report back.
Thanks for the infor CJ.
How about below the Markland dam. I have not fished the river before because I am new to the area. I am looking for suggestions.
Thanks
