Am I wasting my time if I make a trip up this weekend? Any fishable water there?

Hungry,
Fished the Tib a couple of days ago and the water was a little high, but fishable. Didn't hook any eyes. Going to try it again tomorrow. Will post results.

If you want sheepshead, come on down! Got twenty. If you want w'eye, you have to wait some more.

Where were you fishing? I plan on coming over Tuesday. Looks like it should be good weather wise. Vertical jigging I presume? Did you try down by Bay City?

Thanks

Frogman,
Stopped by the DNR launch this afternoon and talked to a couple of fisherman coming in. They had three walleyes and said that most of the boats by them had a fish or two. They said that they were fishing the hot ponds area this week and that this was the first day that they caught walleyes. I didn't talk to anyone vertical jigging. Just thought I'd let you know. Good luck tuesday.

Thanks! I just received an e-mail from Barb Marciniak. She fished the Saginaw Bay Walleye Club tourney with her husband Don yesterday, and said fishing was still slow up that way. By the way, Congrats on winning Don, and Barb!!!
I will still head that way on Tuesday, going stir crazy here on the west side. Got an itch I just have to scratch, know what I mean?
Thanks again, see ya on the water!!!

There are very, very, very few w'eyes in Saginaw River....by Saginaw.
They are staging by the mouth of the River in Bay City.
The water level is falling from the recent rains.
However,to keep in shape and practice there are plenty sheepshead to entertain you.......they fight harder than walleye!
Heard of an occasional one caught in Bay City....

Well enjoyed a beautiful day on the Saginaw River yesterday, but fishing was pretty slow. Only scrounged 1 eight inch walleye around Hooters. Dropped down to Bay City and stuck 1 four pounder. Throw in a few Catfish, and sheephead it keeps the jigging arm in shape! LOL

What a difference a day makes........
Fished the confluence;one legal and two snagged w'eyes.Still the sheepshead out numbered the 'eyes.
I was out-fished by the anglers fishing with minnows as my plastics weren't doing so well today.
The Shiawassee is still muddy. The Tib has cleared up quite a bit.The water level is falling daily.
The run has started............

I read that. Like the other post says, what a difference a day makes!
He also only stated he caught 1 walleye. I did hear of a few anglers catching fish in the afternoon but couldn't stay as I had along drive back to Muskegon.

Guess I will have to come back over this next week!

Frogman,
Looks like there should be plenty of fish for you this weekend. We fished the tib this afternoon above Freeland and picked up 8 fish. We used jigs with plastic bodies. This is the first contact with walleyes for us in this part of the river, so it looks like they are starting their run. Good luck this weekend.
