What is it, everyone holding out and not reporting on the fishing today. Those that fished today, need to share their reports with the rest of us dying and waiting to go to Huron tomorrow. Were the fish there & was anybody doing any catching??????? Wind and waves, were they a facture and what about water clarity????? I realy want to come tomorrow.

I fished today and found fish on my finder but could not get them on my hooks. The lake was great, maybe 2 ft waves.

From the sounds of everything, it looks like I be there tomrrow. They still fishing the 27/29 area or has the fish move closer to Huron? I know the ramp by the bridge, but there is also a ramp further up river at a marina. Does the marina allow boats to launch?

The 27/29 area was decent, and all around that area also, the afternoon bite was better, there were some real dandys taken today, not loads of them, but it is just getting going again, . i did weigh one fish that was 14 1/2 pounds, 32 1/4 inches long, and the sme person had 2 other fish that were over 28 inches long. most were taken on reefrunners, but a few were taken on harnesses, and even some spoons with dipseys. lets just hope for the weather to continue for the next week now.there were fish taken from 25 foot of water to 45 foot of water, so there is plenty of them everywhere, if you find some active ones, stick with them. good luck and good fishin.

If anyone is interested the BIG PERCH fishin is great also. People were catching 80 fish in 45mins. Just in case the Walleyes are stubborn you may want to take some minnows along too.

I fished Saturday until 12:45 PM. Had to quit early due to other commitments. Two of us landed 3 walleye, 31", 28" and 25" long. All on reef runners 150 to 180 back. Caught one each on Blueberry muffin, orange juice and firetiger. Trolled 1.4 to 1.8 mph. All three fish came in a transition area between clearer and stained water around the 29/26. Wished we could have stayed longer, all our bites came after 10:30.

This site is good for information, but as I told my buddy, the only thing I can guarenty is that we won't catch fish if we stay home. Fish hard and share information, but don't wait for tomorrow if you can fish today. A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.

Airwave, I concur. I planned a full day of perching, then some trolling for eyes. But the perch fishing was so good, we stayed and caught some bueaties. Fished in 37' of water just NW of Vermilion, and never moved. Average size was 10", with one fish 13.5"!! Also caught sheep, white bass (some huge ones), and white perch. It was non-stop and fantastic.

For some reason Airwave the West is just as good this year?? Perch around Niagra Sat. were huge. We had several over 13" and a bunch of 10 - 12"

Rob,
How far from shore were you ? Is there a public ramp in Vermillion, or can you suggest a good ramp to use ? Thanks.

We were NW out of the river, perhaps 1.5 miles at best. Most boats were in a group N of the breakwall, in about 35' (approx.).

There is a public ramp on the river, but I don't know how much longer they will be open. My assumption would be that if the weather remains decent for a while, it stays open.

Perhaps someone can help me out. We fished the Huron/Vermillino area Saturday. Spent 5 hours trolling, and reeled in our line for a total of maybe 10 minutes. We caught 3 walleye, 2 very nice ones, but ONLY while reeling in the lines with the boat in neutral! This was on three separate occasions when we were going to try our luck somehwre else. Is this coincidence? I don't know, but it seems like this should be telling us something although I don't know what exactly! I should say that we used reefrunners, 160 to 180 feet back, some off planer boards some without.

Wow, 3 times indicates some sort of a pattern, especially since those were the only fish you caught. Maybe they liked the action of the lures floating to the surface? Did you put it in neutral and start winding right away, or did the lures surface and they hit em shallow on the way back down during the retrieve? Fast retrieve or slow? Very interesting, maybe someone else can chime in here with a theory.

Funny you mention catching the fish while you reeled in lines. We had a tangle and had to pull the lines in by hand and caught one. Also the second came on a harness as my partner started to reel in his line we were trooling at .8 mph gps at the time. PS we were using reefrunners 180back for the first fish I mentioned!!!!!!

When the fish aren't biting real good, it's always a good idea to hold one rod in your hand and give it a little action when trolling. I do a pull-pause routine. Alot of times I get a strike on the pause and when I pull again there is resistance, set the hook and hold on. I've done that lots of times with coho on Lake Michigan. It can mean the difference between a poor day and a great day. Finese fishing. It beats the heck out of sitting and watching your trolling rods all day.

I fished Huron Sunday 11/4 with poor results. Almost everyone I talked to caught nothing, unless they switched over to perching. Everyone with the same story... marked lots of fish, couldn't buy a strike. The water was still dirty. The only clean water I could find was out at 29/26 and by about 9 am there were 3-5 footers out there which was too rough for my 17' so I moved in closer and to the west with no results. Really disappointing to drive so far and get blown out. But there are no guarantees in fishing. My guess is that this coming weekend will be great! Unfortunately I'm flying to Boston for work. Bummer. I'll be looking out the window when come back into Detroit Sunday, wondering if you guys are catching them down there!

Good luck to all, and be careful! It's no fun to go swimming in November!
