I own a 17.5 ft. dual counsele V-hull with a out-board. This coming month will be purchasing a trailering boat cover. Have checked Bass Pro & Cabela's, and there covers seem adequate. It seems like a polyester blend is the way to go for durability. Being on a limited budget, I can't afford a custom made cover from a private business. Any comments or critisims would be appreciated. Thank-you

My first cover was a $100 Attwood. It was the gray canvas. It only made it two seasons. It had a hole or two by the end of the first. It didn't trailer well. My next cover was a $140 (?) Sundura (blue)from Bass Pro. Trailers and stores nice. Is holding up very well and will be starting its fourth season this spring.

I know that a custom-made cover is more expensive, but they use the best materials and probably have the best craftsmanship. I paid $400 for mine three seasons ago and, the way it's going, I think this thing will last forever. Two suggestions: don't trailer the boat with the cover on if at all possible and don't store the boat outside in the winter with the cover on (I use tarps when I put the boat away for the winter). Both of these suggestions will extend the life of the cover indefinitely.
Good luck.

I have been having my covers made by Anchor& Canvas, the lady there is great, does a good job, and is reasonable. She make a snap on cover, and I trailer my boat with it on. I fish the PWT, and travel approx. 20-25,000 mile each year with cover on, only once did I have a snap come off. You might want to call, to at least check it out. She uses different materials for each boat, and colors are no problem. # 920-233-8006 ask for Eileen.
Hope this helps,

I have been using Cabelas Trail Pro covers for years. They are waterproof and durable. Have never had one rip on me yet and I trailer my boat some 20000 miles a year. I also recommend that no matter what cover you choose to get the straps that run the length of the boat and hold the cover up. This helps water runoff and makes the cover and waterproofing last longer
