: Trolling Spoons
pEYEscivore 12-16-2001, 08:54 PM Has anyone tried the build-your-own trolling spoons which Netcraft markets under the PROEYE name? These appear to be nearly identical knockoffs of Stinger Scorpion spoons; I wondered if they have the same action and performance as Scorpions. The price is certainly attractive.
Merry Christmas to all!
GetReel2 12-17-2001, 04:08 AM I personally have not used them. Earlier this yr one of our club member was telling me about them. He got them in bulk and used them exclusivly with very happy results. I'm goin to order some this winter for next season.
eleyfish 12-17-2001, 06:39 AM proeyes work well, they are a little shorter and a little narrower. The ones with paint over silver/gold/copper plating will lose their paint just like stingers. You can look at staminainc.com, they have same spoons w/ some different sizes. Charter captains I know buy the gold/silver/copper plated and use tape to add color.
Lund_Dude 12-17-2001, 08:34 AM I agree that the spoons will work the same as the Stingers, including the paint problems. I feel a lot better throwing the cheaper spoons away. Another thing is that I use exclusively Triple Grips when assembling the Pro-eyes. If you use a lot of spoons, they are worth looking at.
SeaFlea1988@MSN.COM 12-17-2001, 10:34 AM LAST SPRING I DID A POST ABOUT NETCRAFT AND STINGEG SPOONS. THE NETCRAFT WORK AS WELL AS THE STINGERS. FOR THE COST YOU CANT BEAT THEM. I ALSO CHANGE THE HOOKS ON THE STINGERS AND NETCRAFT HOOKS TO TRIPLE GRIPS. I LOST A FEW LARGE FISH ON THE FACTORY HOOKS AND IT CAN BREAK YOUR HEARTS.IF ANYONE HAS EVER NOTICED THE FISH IS OFF THE HOOK WHEN YOU TAKE IT OUT OF THE NET USING THE FACTORY HOOKS.
CarpetBagger 12-17-2001, 02:55 PM Bought a few of these spoons last year. They work just as well as the stingers. Only thing they lack is a varity of color. But the watermellon and confusion work well. Also taped up some of the coppen and silver ones and had some success on them as well.

Gary(Charter Captain) 12-19-2001, 09:14 PM If anyone is interested in plated spoons give those fintail spoons a try.We got some plated in Red,Green,Blue,Gold,Nickel and copper. All we do is add some tape in different colors, works great for us. Probably the best color was Gold with Raspberry ladder back tape on.
The red one with silver etc.At times we were using just pieces of electric trape on them in yellow.

hammertime 12-20-2001, 06:40 AM dont spend all your money yet, the hammertime spoons will be out shortly and "catered to the walleye fisherman" just as much as the salmon fisherman. 100 patterns of the hottest spoons ya ever seen and the walleye sizes, 2 5/8 and 3 1/4 come with triple grips just as the walleye fisherman asked for. still finishing up web page and other small details yet but will be worth the wait. toughest paint on the market. just though id through this info out there so ya knew. take care and tight lines. mike/hammertime
jtkarner 12-20-2001, 06:57 AM WHERE CAN YOU GET THESE SPOONS? ARE THEY ON THE WEB?
hammertime 12-20-2001, 07:11 AM they will be, just finishing up some of the details and putting web page together. should be by the end of next month. my spoons are all done with silver plate, gold and copper. no cheap nickle plating. great patterns. also done some white with flo glow edges in red, green, blue, char or orange with crystalina finish that was asked for by some of the walleye fisherman. lets just say that if i dont have it, you wont find it. tight lines.
CarpetBagger 12-20-2001, 01:06 PM What are the prices of these spoons?
CB
hammertime 12-20-2001, 01:37 PM the price will be about the same as most other co,s but you,ll be getting a spoon that the paint wont come off and with nickle triple grip hooks on them. i can see why people like the triple grip hooks after putting some hooks on some lures, there razor sharp. i will be getting somthing out on walleye central next month on them. i had a goal to make the best spoon with the best components in the best patterns that a fisherman could buy and i think ive done it. starting out with about 100 patterns and either cutting back or going foward from there depending on what sells during the first year. tight lines.
Bob Bay City) 12-20-2001, 09:20 PM I didn't know that we turned into a sales organization. Free advertising, whos next. Lindy .Off Shore Tackle. Storm.Reef RunnerLund Boats etc. Your the first Manuf. I ever found promoting their product on this web site. I thought i came under the fishing report section, not the manuf.section.Anyway good luck on your product,we fisherman will let you know if its as good as you say .

bbstacker 12-20-2001, 09:27 PM When you say the paint will not come off like other spoons, do you mean that through normal wear the paint will not chip when hit by fish, or do you mean that the paint won't peal off like a decal like some spoons I have bought from other compaines that boast the same.
Weider 12-21-2001, 06:57 AM These spoons seem to be the answer to all fishermen that use spoons.I'm 42 years old and my wife will sure be glad to hear that after i buy a dozen of these i will never have to buy another spoon again. The plating never comes off and the paint never comes off,I'm set for life unless someone steals them. Poor Stinger.

I see producs -- Stingers, Reef Runners etc. -- promoted on here all the time. Not necessarily by their manufacturers but by they spokesmen and pro staffers, but as long as it doesn't interfere with the board I don't see a big problem/ It is just more information.
hammertime 12-24-2001, 05:33 AM i was just going to let things go on the fishing board but then that might look like im not wanting to reply, so as for the paint peeling, hasnt shown any sign so far and just mabee who ever done the ones that the paint peeled off didnt know what they were doing and put the paint on too thick. not saying my lures are the anwser to all the spoon problims, just a good quality spoon with some really hot paint patterns. know this is a fishing report page so im not going to say any more as i will respect that and hope when my spoons are out ya will judge them on there own merit. ive tryied to make them to fit walleye fishermans needs and wants like putting triple grips on them like thay asked for on the discussion board and colors they asked for also. take care and tight lines. mike/hammertime
Cangl 12-26-2001, 10:46 AM I have found that any high gloss metal that is painted will give up paint to abrasion, best results for paint bonding is usaully (for color and adhersion) primed and baked enamels as most all car makers use.
Tape is proably best for "shine metalic finishes" and you still get flash. Santa shops at Netcraft I know this because as mentioned on the board here "his signature on the checks is the same as mine" Thanks for that line guy's it tickled me.
