never fished whites landing but would like to this year. is it mainly a perch bite. what other kind of fish are caught there? live minnows the best bait or are jigs just as good? what colors usually work best? how far out are the springs? thanks to all who reply!
If you are talking about whites landing in ohio, it has perch, crappie, and bullheads for a ice bite. as far as i know there isnt any safe ice there yet, around the springs is the best bet, but if you are not familiar with it, DONT be the first one to go out there when the ice is safe, there are definately soft spots. be safe. good luck and good fishin.

The Ice off Whites landing is safe for people and shantys. there is about 6 inches of ice around the springs. The water is still pretty murkey and a few nice size fish were caught yesterday. This up-coming weekend should be a zoo out there with upwards of 100 shantys on the ice. Affordable Outdoors Guide service is out of Whites Landing I would check with them for Ice conditions, Water conditions, there guides are out there every day checking ice thickness and locations of the fish. There phone # is (419)684-7501

Pulled a dozen Jumbo's through the ice yesterday, fished 1/2 way between the 1st and 2 nd spring, You have to put the minnow's 1inch off the bottom. If your 2 inches off, you'll catch nothing. Ice is about 7 -8 inches thick. Fished from 3:30 till dark

Ice yesterday was about 5 to 6 inches thick with very thin ice around the spring holes. The big spring had open water and skim ice on top of it. I got 4 nice bullheads and one perch.
Be very careful walking out there. A spud bar to test ice is a good idea.
You might want a safety rope and ice tongs in case it gives way by the springs. Seeyaontheice!

I pulled 20 nice size perch today off whites landing. Fish were hungry from about 9:45 till 12:00 then nothing after the wind started to pick up. Fished about 100 yards South West of the 1st spring. 7inches of ice. lots of people out there today.
IM GONA TRY IT MONDAY MORNING IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO. LATER IN THE WEEKEND I WOULD REALY BE THANKFUL
Fished this morning near the first spring with no success. Left at 1:00 and only had 3 small perch. I don't think anyone had very many unless it picked up in the afternoon. I am heading back out tomorrow so I will post when I get back

Myself and a buddie pulled 29 from 10:-4:30. The trick is constant movement of the bait, with in 3-4 inches of the bottom. With long pauses. Try fishing a crappie rig off a tip-up, 80% of our fish came off this set-up, with the strong wind jiging the tip-ups for us.We had 4 real nice ones over 13 inches. First real big ones of this(ice) season (CLEMONS SHANTY) w/ AFFORDABLE OUTDOORS... stop over and check with us next time your out there. We have been nailing them for the last 4 days. The more people we can get on top of the fish the longer they will stay there.
ME AND A BUDDY WILL BE THERE MON. WITH AFFORDIBLE HOPE TO HAVE A GREAT POST.DO THE FISH SEEM TO BE DOIN IT IN THE MORNING OR LATER IN THE DAY THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP LOTS OF FLAGS JOE.

Fished White this morning with poor results. Saw 9 fish caught between 25 guys. Talked to one guy that fished by the Affordable Charter guy yesterday untill 1:30 and said he only had 3 fish when he left. Hope stories aren`t being told to help the bussiness. I had told a friend about him and was thinking about a trip with him. I told him to wait and see what is going on .
