Fished the Joe on Sun. Am. 7-2. Caught Many Small Walleyes and A couple of keepers. 16 and 17 inches. Seen a lot of nice fish caught in the same vacinity. I am concerned that my line might be to heavy. Using 6 lb trilene with live bait rigs. Some fish coming on lead heads. What line would be suggested in fairly clear water this time of year. What is the best slow presentation in medium current.
Thanks, GO BEARS
Andy
I use 12# fireline which is actually 6# test. I don't lose so many jigs that way. I can usually pull the jig around a rock without losing it from shore. Not worried about the loss of a few bucks but of more lead in the river. Are you fishing from shore or a boat? I use 3\8 oz in moderate to heavy current. 1\4 oz if I'm hanging up on rocks and logs to much, from shore. I'd say your six pound should be about right. If you use any lighter line your just gonna lose more tackle and maybe that wallhanger. The fish have the advantage of getting into the main stream and just letting her rip. Have lost a few that way before, even on 12# line. If your boat fishing use cranks, blades, rattlespoons over the side. Sounds like you were in the right area anyway, using what you were using. Taken a few good ones in front of the Century Center. Hope this helps. Craig
