Would like info from wk.end, was out sat. frm. Mazuruk. Fished and ran about for 4 hrs. nothing. All I talked to had neg. remarks. Whats everybody think ? They should be there, we're normally ice fishing when weather permits, not this yr. Where's the fish?

Fished out of Huron on Sun, 1PM till dark. Marked a lot of fish and bait fish ( had 3 snagged on lures when we brought them in to change lures, 2 on one lure at the same time). Had 2 pull backs that didn't hookup and caught one small steelhead. Quite windy till about dark. Great day to fish Erie in Jan. from a boat!

It 9:15pm monday jan. 30 and I finished watching the buckeyes defeat the Illini in a big big 10 game. Earlier in the day a friend and I boated 5 walleyes from 9:00am to 3:00pm. We had very good water conditions but not so good weather conditions. It was very calm all day for our 16' Lowe but visibility never was more than a half mile. All these reports are from the Lakeside, Kellys, and Marblehead areas and they have read the same NO FISH!!! We decided to go west to Wild Wings to give it a try. It probably was the right decision after looking at the other reports from the east.We took a course of north by northwest out of the channel and travelled 6and half miles. We arived in 22' of water and marked good fish on the bottom right away. We had three hits right away, before we boated our first fish. We were anchored and jigged spoons and fuzze grubs tipped with shiners. Fishing then slowed so we thought we would try deeper and moved out to 26' but it was not the right move. Today was a day that if you didn't mark fish you didn't catch fish! We returned to the 22' level and marked fish again and caught the remaing four fish with the same baits and technique. We only saw one other boat late in the day and we were the only vehicle in the lot at wild wings. Hopes this helps, as I enjoy reading these reports and get lots of good info from this site. ollie

How far were you guys from A-can? It sound like you were in that area. Thats real good to hear that you found some fish. I usually launch from Metzger marsh launch, we tried to fish in front of crane creek in 16ft, but we had no luck. Maybe the fish were just deeper than we thought. Maybe in the next month or so I can get back out if the weather holds, but freezing rain and snow is approaching from the west for the next couple of days. I guess that means I'll be plowing snow and salting driveways for the next couple of days. Oh well alot of fishing is yet to come.
Thanks

Hey, is this Ollie M? Good decision and congrats on the catch! I figured if anyone would get into them it would be one of you jigging guys. Did you notice if Al's was still iced in?

Yes marc it is me.I was with moose yesterday and yes Al's still had just enough ice in the channel to make it very difficult to launch. Moose was wondering why he hasn't received his contract from Al's yet?Have you received yours? If so let him know, he may to give them a call. I know it wil almost kill you, but turn off that trolling motor and get out your anchor! LOL ollie

Ollie,
I got my Al's paperwork today in the mail.
I anchored for a couple hours Saturday and we had 3 hits but no hookups. Sunday I tried but couldn't get anchored on top of them. I need you guys to give me a refresher course on jigging I guess! Did you get any or did you let Moose hog them all like he usually does.
Hint: If you register you won't have to worry about getting the name wrong next time. It's easy, free and gives you some other options.
