I have a friend who is from Rapid City and his family keeps a pontoon boat there during the summer. He is not an angler but he told me it has good walleye and smallmouth fishing. I also remember it being listed in either the 2000 or the 2001 walleye guide as a sleeper?

Have you ever fished Swanson Resevoir in southwetern Nebraska. I have heard that it and Red Willow Resevoirs are really good for Walleye and huge Wiper! I guess Swanson is about 5000 acres?

I have fished Angostura a few times and have not been dissappointed. Last year we went in early June. Rained for four of the five days but we did pretty well. Best luck was jigging 3/8 fireballs tipped with minnows. Started vertical working breakline that runs nearly the length of the lake. It is out maybe a quarter mile from west shore where the flat drops off. Found fish mostly where we found rocks along this line. Once we found fish we threw bare fuzzy grubs etc. and did well also. Most fish were 20 to 23". last year, the top of this break was at 22-23 ft.
This is a nice lake for good crappie also. Have been up there three times in August and have always done well. For them, we used floating Lindy rigs with a minnow or jig and minnow. Most came from southwest part of lake where shoreline drops quickly into deep water. Some do real well in tires around the marina also.
Nice lake, and smaller so the wind won't ruin your trip as often
as on the bigger water. If it does, there is a casino and water park in Hot Springs.

Good luck

I bought the 2002 Walleye Guide last night and Angostura is listed in it's top walleye waters.
