Just Kidding. Eric and I went up to Williams Fork on Saturday. There was so much snow on the ice that we couldn't pull our sleds and Fat #####'s all the way out to the main lake, so we stopped and fished in the middle of a bay. We caught two trout, one being about 19 inchs and that was it for the day. To add insult to injury it took us almost four hours to get home, because of the ski traffic. I get more disillusioned with this state every time I go. I just wish I could convince my wife that Casper is her kind of town, LOL.

I moved back to South Dakota fron Colorado in the early 80's. I've never regretted it. Better money in Colorado but the difference in quality for hunting and fishing for me was worth it. Unfortunatley it's starting to get to busy in some areas here. If your seriously thinking abou a change check out S.D. job adds. Very low unemployment, and still less than a million people state wide....

If I was not married I would be gone! My wife has a nice career going here in commercial real estate management. I on the other hand just got downsized last Friday. They shut down the whole Denver office. I would love to live in the Dakotas or Montana but I would be divorced!! I could live out in the middle of no where as long as I had a computer and a satelite dish! And I would love to raise my two sons in that kind of environment, but I think they would miss their mom, LOL.

YEAH, SODAK IS NICE IF YOU'RE AN OUTDOORSPERSON. THE UNEMPLOYMENT MAY BE LOW, BUT THE EMPLOYMENT IS ALSO LOW PAYING! I LIVED THERE FOR 9 YEARS AND HAD TO GET OUT JUST SO I COULD CONSIDER A FUTURE!!

Neal,

For some reason, my wife doesn't think Casper is her kind of town either. I just don't understand it.

Your supposed to have a snowmobile when you've got guts like us!

How bout that yuppie asking us if we had been ice fishing and then proceeding to ask all the annoying rich boy questions like..."you gonna eat em?"

The thing that really annoyed me was the fact that most of the plates were from out of staters including Wy(ners)oming.

Neal/Co why would you want to move to Casper. Moved here 13 yrs.ago trying to get back to SD ever since. No water in Pathfinder, no water in Glendo, same story at Boysen. Lake Oahe is 400 miles away. Still make the trip 5-6 times a year. Its true SD is a tough place to make a living, but the fishing and hunting make up for it. 1st trip to SD at the end of March. Can hardly wait!!
Thanks

I haven't been to Pathfinder in a few years, how low is it? Fishing was excellent at Glendo last summer. South Dakota sounds great also!

Neal-Pathfinder was the lowest I have seen it. We did OK at Glendo, but it just is not Oahe! Thinking about trying to move back to Pierre, but the job market there is weak.

Colorado guys,

You gents are pretty active on the Fishing Report Forum. When you say Bic Mac or Glendo were good last year, what is your criterion? Were they producing like 5 - 10 - 20 nice WE / day throughout the season or were they producing heavy "sumos" consistently / irregularly? Thanks.

I'm trying to decide whether it's worth a several hour trip to pull cranks way up there? If so, what time of the year do you suggest?

AE, You wouldn't be disappointed with a trip to Glendo, great numbers of fat, healthy walleyes with the occasional "sumo". Anytime after ice-off would be good although some years the bite can get tough late summer with the abundance of shad. It's the place I fish most often and I love to troll cranks. Man I can't wait for open water.
