Do any of you have a walleye presentation that is unappealing to rock bass?

Whats wrong with the rock bass? last year I was on a launch on Mille Lacs and I pulled up a nice big Rock Bass. The Captain grabs the fish and says"thats a big one, could be a state record!" He then proceded to throw the fish right back into water before I could say a word. I dont care what kind of fish it is, if its a state record I want my name in the books!

Never have found a good way to keep the rock bass away. The only technique that seems to work for me is moving to another spot.

Trolling fishing deeper, as for bait hide your bait somwhere else?
Fact is they will try and eat anything and usaully can caught one that had two of the "cabin" mice from the night before in it on a crawler. The frying pan fixes them pretty good though, revenge!

I dont know if this is a Repellent or a Magnetic for Rock Bass, but a 7/0 hook and a 50lb flathead works for me.:7

Fish deeper water. Most of the time when I start hooking rockies it's because I have moved too shallow. Those little marks on your depth finder are not walleyes. Somedays though you just cant win....I know it sucks....just bring extra bait. My best advice would be to move deeper Good Luck

I spend a week every year on the Trent River in Ontario. The rock bass eat anything and everything. Too bad they don't taste like walleye or bluegill.

I fish the Trent, as well. Nothing keeps those pests away! Have you been successful with walleye fishing on the Trent?

My wife had a problem with two rabbits this winter eating her ornamentals. They tasted great baked in the oven with a garlic onion mushroom sauce on the side with garden vegetables and baked potatoes:9

I have found that 10W 30 works pretty well. Either that, or a shot put type "release".
