I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE RULES ON FISHING ON THE CANADA SIDE OF WEST LAKE ERIE FROM THE ISLAND AREA... DO YOU NEED AN ADDITION LIC. FOR WHEN YOU CROSS INTO CANADA? THANKS

Yes, you do need a Canadian fishing liscense if you will be in their waters. If you plan on roaming Michigan's waters you have to have a Michigan liscense as well. If you are out on a boat, stop in at the public dock on Pelee Island (the first Canadian Island) and you can get a liscense and set of rules there. I haven't fished the "other side" in a few years so I couldn't tell you of any pricing for the liscense or additional tags for Steelhead, Etc. I'm sure someone else out there has purchased one recently and can give you ball park figures.

Look in the "General Discussion" for a thread about Ontario fishing licenses. There is a tool free number for the MNR.

hey lead bouncer I could not find that post with the toll free number of the ontario mnr. I have bought a canadian license for many years and have gotten them through the mail, but I always paid for the phone call. If you can help thanks. ollie

Sorry Ollie, I couldn't find it either. I must have posted it on another site, I'll us the excuse that I'm gonna be over the hill this year.
Anyhoo... here is the number for the Ontario MNR
1 (800) 667-1940.
They tell me they will include a fishing regs booklet with your license.
Once agian, I appoligize for the error.

I also have heard to not have one of those 12 gauge flair guns either. You know how canada is about hard guns. I think they can consider that one...
