I'm going to get ripped for responding to you about a musky lake but what the heck.
There are some really good message boards that will give you the reports that you're looking for = crash mullins guide service and Gregg Thomas at battlethebeast.com (I think that's it). I've fished the lake on 4 different occasions and would recommend a guide if it's your first trip. Gregg Thomas is really good and is a professional muskie fisherman. I booked him my first trip and he taught everything that i needed to know about the lake. I only caught 1 musky the day that I fished with him but the next day I fished without him and caught 3 including a 42 incher. I caught those fish fishing 4 areas that he was really high on and it payed off. It's a really big lake that can be overwhelming to a newcomer. If you want more info let me know and I'll give you a call. Hope this helps.
I live about 1/2 mile from Cave Run. I fish the Licking below the dam for walleye, but most of my friends muskie fish, since that's the thing to do in this area. I was on the river yesterday when the DNR were pulling out after a shocking trip. Said they didn't bring up any muskie, (no walleyes either). The muskie were really turned on through the middle of Febuary, but now it's slowed back down a bit, but they are still bringing fish out of the lake.
