I have daiwa heartland rods 8' 6" { medium action } reeled with daiwa line counter sg27lcw reels. my question is they seem to be pretty light for using bottom bouncers 3oz or more. Should i switch to a heavy action for 3oz to 6oz bottom bouncers ? Anyone using the G-Loomis bottom bouncer rods? I see their medium- heavy action.

hi i fished the mwc at spring valley this month and i was using 10 ounce weights on those same heartland rods. i felt the rods were a little light but they didnt seem to load up to bad and when i was fighting a fish it still gave me plenty of feeling to fight the fish.

I picked up a Loomis WBR 813C walleye series bottom bouncer rod in a trade over the winter. Its, nice, but I really dont think I would spend that kind of money for one. When I use bottom bouncers, my rod is in a holder, I really dont see the need for a sensitive rod like that. Maybe if you hold the rod instead of using a holder. For the weights you are talking about, I would assume you are using a holder, too. I did use it for jigging over the weekend, it has a nice fast action to it.
Hope this helps.
