Fished out of turtle creek today. 14 ft of water. Yellow twister tail jigs 1/4 oz. Tipped with a minnow. My buddy caught 4 jacks and I caught one.We had three in the boat in 45 min. Then wind switched out of N.E. Spent about hour and a half for the next two fish.

Thanks

We were just a little N.W. of Bessie. Maybe 3/4 mile out. I'm not good with distance espically on water. We weren't on the reefs. We were in a staging area I guess. My buddy is the walleye man. I just tag along. Lamberjacks Marina.
where is a decent boat ramp in that area?

Turtle Creek is a pretty good launching spot, but steep ramps. It's about 1 mile west of Bessie.

Thanks! We'll be comming in Friday nite and fishing for 5 or 6 days. The launch at Fenwick is a good launch with good fish cleaning area. It costs about $5 to launch and its about a 10 minute idle speed ride out to the lake. It may be Turtle creek you're going through. Its like a campground that we launch at, pretty sure its called Fenwick. Its a couple of miles North of Besse also.
Hail us on channel 69 this weekend we'll be happy to share info and tips. We'll have 5 or 6 boats out so we should have good info and hopefully some successful tips. KO8915 MILFISH.
Good luck!

I don't know about your state but in NY if you have a limit, you are not allowed to keep fishing. As soon as you catch a fish, you are over your limit. Will it be enforced? Who knows, but I don't take that chance.
Hello, we are back. We just got back and opened up the store yesterday. We haven’t much feedback yet on where the walleyes are biting. My wife Marcia did weigh in two Fish Ohio Walleyes yesterday afternoon. One was 13 ½ lb. and was 32 ½" long, the other was 28"long and 8 lb. They said they caught them on Vibe’s jigging lures. I am not sure where they caught them, but I know they were not gone from here long before they brought them in to be weighed and measured. I guess we have had a lot of wind the last couple of weeks and it has the water all stirred up, and it is still cold. I heard it is still around 37 degrees. It takes that cold water a longer time to clear up than warmer water. I suppose because it would be more dense. The Professional Walleye Tour (PWT) Pro’s are starting to come in now to prefish for the PWT Tournament that is coming to Lake Erie this year on April 17, 18,and 19. Most of them stop in here, and I will get some good feedback from them. I will try to keep you posted now every couple of days or as soon as I hear any changes around here. It looks like we will get some rain tonight. Then cooler and a little windy (15 to 25 out of the southwest) for the next couple of days. It looks like we could have better weather for the weekend. As you know the weather is really iffy in the spring. Good fishing, and good luck. Don. (Check out our reports on hiwaybait.com)
We are heading out to Port Clinton next week and I am wondering what the options may be if the wind comes up. Is fishing in the river an option? Are there additional regs I need to be aware of?

If the wind comes up, I don't know if there is a option. The rivers are boiling and all you would do for the most part would be snagging. The lake isn't what you would call clean. Where we were fishing I would say we only had about 18 to 20 inches of vivsibilty at the surface. Wind was out of the north today, but I don't know what effect it had on the lake. I might get up that way tomarrow I'll let you know what I see from land, probably won't get to fish till next week sometime so I can't help you with hands on experiance. Good Luck

The rivers are always an option. In Ohio, you are pretty much limited to a jig in the rivers (pick up current fishing regs). Another option is to trailer up to Mi. and fish the Detroit or Lake Erie in that area. There is always Sandusky Bay as well. Hope you don't have to use any of these alternatives! We will be up starting on the 12th. fishing untill the 17th. Good luck!

Ferry over to S. Bass or Kelly's Island are sometimes options. Check the schedule to make sure you can get back that day. Basically you can launch off the west or east sides of S. Bass. Launch off the N or S sides of Kelly's (private ramp on S. side of Kelly's that I know of is not suitable for all rigs) Even with a stiff wind you can usually get out about 1/2 to 1 mile. Worst case you might be stuck vert jigging for smallies if you can't find eyes close. For smallies look around 15-20' deep, swedish pimples or rattling snakies tipped with shiners will get the smallmouth. Freq. can find big eyes.
Cost a few $ to ferry, but it's saved a few trips for me.

Wanting to know if a guide might be available for 4/14 just my wife and I. Would be willing to fill in with another party as well. Should the fishing be productive by then? Would consider Detriot River or where ever the fishing might be the best.
Thanks,
Peter

I have a few dates left in later part of April weekends only. Ph # 313 580 5791. We are averaging 14 fish a day on the Detroit River with bigger fish entering every day, we boated a 12 pounder the other day and a 12 year old kid got it. The fishing is starting to really pickup with alot of males to keep ypu busy.
