OK, I got my Lund 1675 ProSport and we tested it out on Cherry Creek Lake. The lake did great on keeping the boat above the waterline. So far, so good.

The next day, we went to the bait shop (Valley Country Tackle) recommended to us on this forum. It is at Parker & Quincy, SE of the lake. The grizzled gent there said he wished he could give us better news, but the WE fishing was terrible. (I was surprised to see that he had some leeches for sale.)

We tried trolling some shad raps @ 6 - 8', without any luck near the swim beach and along the shoreline. We also tried some bottom bouncers with crawlers and spinner rigs, varying the depth - no dice.

About 200' off the rip rap, I was marking some good sized fish with their tails to the bottom in ~26' H2O. So, we switched to snap jigging with jigs tipped with crawlers. We were consistent in not producing any fish.

We saw a couple of boats near, and several people hanging onto, what looked like giant louvers at a tower, even though some buoys posted it as "No trespassing." They seemed to be fishing inside the tower or hanging onto to the louvers. Can anyone tell me what the transgressors were doing?

The only other real information I can pass on is that the H2O temp was 43 - 47 F, that a number of boats were on the water Friday, and my Lund will be a nice fishing platform - love the walk through windshield.

the guys fishing inside the tower gates were most likley catching crappie. But you dont have to fish inside, around the tower anywhere will usually do.

You and the other NM guys going to be on Conchas this Friday-Sunday? A few guys from CO are headed down there (me included). Stop by for a beer if you are close to the lake. Couple of questions for ya, (1) what camp sites would you suggest? Will need electricity. (2) Any hot tips for a newbee on Conchas?

Dave, the fishing report said "... some limits of 3- 4# We taken jigging minnows off bottom or night crawlers off the bottom." BRS1 from WC got a 10#'er jigging about 10 days ago. The game & fish guys started collecting spawn last Monday off of Ute Lake.

Watch out for rocks as the water level is supposed to be at a 30-year low because of the drought.
