I fished McConaughy on Saturday and Sunday. I was originally going to put in at the dam and fish that area but there was large islands of ice still floating around so I decided against it. Instead I put in at Cedar Vue and fished the Otter creek area. The water temp in the bay was 47 degrees (surface) but in the main lake it was 40 degrees. I jigged and rigged the first deep water outside the bay but no luck. There was a group of 6-7 boats fishing by the large sand point on Saturday. On a 30,000 acre lake they were all in 1 acre. It was either a good spot or a monkey see monkey do situation. The weather was beautiful and Junie May's brisket was great. I'm going back in 2 week to try again.

We did put in at Burma, had to break some ice. We tryed quite a few places around the north shore and the spillway area. Marked a few fish in about 45' but couldn't catch them. One of my fishing mates decided he had caught Montezuma's revenge and had to get off of the lake early so he could sit in the restroom for about a hour. It was still fun. Will be back in a few weeks

You guys better be getting down there and enjoy the water level this Spring and early Summer, it is looking very bleak and possibly even worse than last year for water levels. As of today, we are dead even for the amount of water in there, compared to last year, and add the fact that snow pack is less than last year, looks very bad. For me this is a hard pill to take, but it is reality and unless we get some serious Spring rain's or more snow in the mountains its going to be another dry one:'(.
And by the way, don't forget to keep up on the new limits for Walleye in 2003, there was some very profound changes.
Here's hoping for a wet Spring!!!!

What kind of changes? Are they already making some for 2003? I wonder if they will let less water out of Big Mac if the levels are not up to normal.

What I was referring to was the bag limit's. In 2003, you will be able to keep 4 Walleyes, 15" minimum still-but only 1 over 20". As far as the water goes they will still let out what is required to keep the hydro operable, and keep the irrigation flowing down East. Ohh, and don't forget the extra water for the lease tern and piping plover. So in other words as to your last question, no, they will keep letting water out as needed regardless of lake level.
