Got a press release from Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area announcing that all boat ramps on Bighorn Lake in Montana and Wyoming are closed to all users. Water levels are just too low with four to five more feet of water needed for Barry's Landing ramp and nine to 10 feet more water to use Ok-A-Beh. Horseshoe Bend is expected to be closed all summer due to low water levels.
The ramps aren't just closed to big boats. Car-top boats and rubber rafts also aren't allowed. The reasoning was that there are steep rock drop-offs at the end of the ramps and the National Park Service can't launch its emergency boats in case somebody gets in trouble on the 70-mile-long lake. -- mark
