Sucked.

I wouldn't say it sucked. The bite was tough, but it was a nice day and congratulations to Gene M. He found 4 keepers and showed everyone how its done.

I only said that to show my unenthusiasm for what I saw.

2 things:

Whoring:
It seemed that 24 boats (yes I counted them) followed around a black/white glass Targa. I was in the Green/White Starcraft fishing the shallows up by the inlet. The Targa came down our way slowly dragging jigs, behind him 24 boats. They all ended up fishing way back in the shallows the rest of day. I also feel bad cuz I had a marker bouy out (wasn't a big deal since I was the only down there for most of the day). The Targa started heading right at my bouy so I had to point out to him that I had a bouy out. Not cuz I didn't want him on my hump (which didn't produce any keepers anyways), but cuz I didn't want him to tangle in it. Now he probably thinks I'm a jerk.

NO WAKE:
You should be DQ'd for not obeying the NO WAKE rule that starts halfway down the lake and is clearly marked by many bouys. I was boat 23 and obeyed the rule. Boat 40 something passed me full throttle. I bet that we don't have another walleye tournament there if someone of the general public complained.

All this pessimism is fueled by the fact that I basically suck as a fisherman and I'm looking for excuses. I just wanted my Dad to weigh fish. We are 0 for 2 in fishing walleye tournaments together and weighing fish.

4 keepers is good even when the bite is hot. Gene M. is my new walleye Idol. Sorry Scott Golden, your out and Gene M. is in!

Does anyone know where Gene caught those fish or what kind of boat he was in?

Dragger,
Thanks, wally divers in about 7' of water near where the South Platte comes into the lake seemed to be the ticket. Let out enough line so that they bumped bottom occasionally. Had to clean moss and weeds off the hooks fairly frequently but once in awhile we cleaned
a walleye off. Boated 7 and 4 were keepers. Had another 19" about 10' from the boat and it came off the hook. Caught 3 keepers there
pre fishing on Friday so stuck with that pattern on Saturday.

Hey Gene, were you in the Sylvan?

Eric,
Sylvan 1800 Elimator W/150 Evinrude. Was boat 45 and did observe
the no wake at all times. I too was very disappointed with the boats that choose to ignore the no wake buoys. Clarence and I trolled the entire day at the inlet. Got more and more difficult as the day went on and the boats started gathering in that area.

I hear you. I was down there with you guys all day Friday and Saturday. You guys are good. I never saw you net a fish!

Seven fish in the boat in about 7 1/2 hours of fishing. That net wasn't exactly working overtime. Had plenty of time to cool off
between hook ups. That little red lund that was anchored over there claimed to have 4 keepers but they were not in the tournament. Will you be at Pueblo? If so, see you there.

Nope. Only signed up for Glendo at this point with the infamous Dkooser. Trying to get someone to commit to the Big Mac tourney.

Did you notice that 24 boats were following the Targa? Or was it the Cigar that was getting to me?

It's time for the CWA to have a group hug. Eric is in the middle. Let me know when it is so I can be gone.

Looks like we are culling at the Glendo tourney, since rules and etiquette don't matter.

Art K! I like that guy. He's pretty cool. My tournament partner last year said that he fished a Big Mac tourney with him and just flew across the lake regardless of the wave size. Scared the crap out of him. LOL

He and the guy that owns the targa seem to usually be in the money. Bet it is because they have fiberlass hulls! LOL
