With the unseasonably hot weather the last few days I was wondering if anyone has been out crappie fishing. I'm assuming most all the smaller lakes are ice free.

I was thinking about trying White Bear or maybe a Lindstrom lake in the next few days.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

The general rule of thumb - is 7 days past ice out.
The ice went out on most of the lakes either Sat, Sun. or Monday of this week.

Although you will be able to catch a few now, it is likely that if you wait until about the middle of next week - assuming no severe cold front - they will be much more active.

Thanks Rew!

I do have the itch to get out more so to run the boat. You provided very good insight on the motor height on my 1700 Fisherman. One hole up sounds like the way to go.

Thanks Again!

I have to admit, that I do too.
As a matter of fact, I am just putting new line on all of my poles.
I have decided this year now use any of my reels smaller than 2000 sized. With some of the spring casting that I do - and the distance required - I have decided to go with large reels - even on the lighter rods - simply so that once you are past the pod of fish, you can more quickly retreive your line for another cast.

Picked up the boat the other day - cleaned it up and its set.

Perhaps we will see you on the water.
I think that I am going down to Waconnia tomorrow - for a bit.
