I was just wondering why there is openings in all the tournys for Am. Do you think it is because of all the others tournys starting up, or that Ams get merchandise instead of cash?

I would agree with the circuits competing for the same entries.
The PWT does give you 3 days of fishing in the tournament.
The RCL is a cut after 2nd day with top 60 to the third day. Then
15 going into the last day. NAWA tried a similar format for years. They ended up in the boneyard. No guarentee on payouts.
Overlapping of the dates of the bigger tournaments is also a factor. USFA Pro overlapped the RCLs this year. Stick to the PWT
they will be there or make a move to make sure they are there in the end. $525 plus big fish and prefishing a possibility, PWT.
Some AMs will come back to PWT. Not everyone owns a RCL.
The more entries the better the competition.

Boy do you have some facts wrong. First the RCL is here to stay. You'd better look real hard and see if the PWT is going to make it. They are owned by someone that is interested in magazine subsciptions and thats all. the payback is much better in the RCL and it's all cash, not a handful of over priced prizes. The reason that the PWT is not full is for that reason and look at the location's of the tournament site's. You will have the chance to pre-fish with no limit on the time or bounderies to worry about. Anyone can fish the Co-Angler side, you do not have to own an RCL to fish it. And yes you fish the first two days and the field is cut to the top 60 and then to the top 12 for the last day. It sounds like you'r not an RCL owner and not happy because you can't play. The angler's will go and fish the event thats best for them and the RCL is the best out there. That my opinion.

Thanks for saying the top twelve, on the final day its the only thing you said right. I own a Lund and a Warrior. Fished many circuits as Am and now as a Pro. Your speculating on a one tournament event. PWT has been around at least 10 years. Thats a lot of knowledge past on to the public, and yes I even have the first In-Fisherman study report but these fellows were fishing long before Irwin ever stepped in a boat. Oh thats right Irwin doesnt have his own TV show. Thats ESPN hes buying time on.

I would suspect that there are a few reasons why the PWT am's have not filled yet this year:
1) In 10 years, many am's have had opportunity to fish PWT events
2) Bet quite a few new pro's out there come from past PWT am ranks
3) There are many more tourney circuits to compete in now
4) Having to pay entry fees around/near Christmas is always a bear
Reason Am's have not signed up yet probably do NOT include:
1) Merchandise vs. cash
2) Tourney locations
3) Quality of field
4) Lower level of excitement
5) Price increases
There is no doubt fishing PWT's as an amateur will always be a wonderful opportunity to fish with top-notch walleye pro-experts, in great walleye-loaded bodies of water, for 3 exciting days, at a pretty darn fair price for the thrill of competing and even winning some darn good prizes and plaques.
My friends know I'm still in it for that plaque and the enjoyment of fishing with pros!

Da, your right, But look where the PWT has gone to "The Outdoor Life Network" Man is that allot of veiwer's. From my knowledge that's a step backwards. Yes your right about only one event so far, but open your eye's and see where it's going. If you want to be a PWT puppet that's your business, but tell it like it is. Let's see who's around in the near future and see who's riding the winner at the finish line. Good luck and listen to what your told by the PWT and you may make it another year, just like them if they can't fill the field's. I can't wait to see how far they cut the purse down when they don't fill. Us Co-Anglers can fish for an empty cooler this year.

They can use local volunteers to fill the fields if they have too. Plus I see a trend were observers are being used in FLW tourneys in the finals. PWT does in the champ. Time will tell like you say. The RCL still isnt on line with 2001, my vacations and boss sure want to know if I will be gone for a week or two at a time. They are unorganized if they are not there now. They will be fishing PEA SOUP green water at Devils Lake. Alot car washes will make a fortune.

Well I can tell you that they are waiting to finalize everything for the bonus money for the RCL Championship with Mercury and Yamaha. It all has to be in the brochure and that's the hold up. Plus they have a couple of other very interesting things happening that will even make it more attractive. Just have patients and be rewarded in the end. Ya but wait and see how much the payback will be cut in the PWT when it's not full. Remember the Am. money go's into their pockets and not the fishermans.

I myself have fished 5 PWT events and agree it's a experience for any am.Location is the number 1 reason I can't fish any this year.Another consideration is increases of entry fee, $40.00/day gas and bait co-costs.With lodging a person on the am side will spend about $1000 per tournament.Pros cost are way beyond that which means I'll never be in a position to fish as a "pro".For anyone considering the entry...DO IT...you can gain more experience fishin' a tournament than bumbling around by yourself a few years. The more players in the tournament scene the more options you have to pick and choose. With Cabelas folding the NAWA, the PWT was the only pro-am circuit.Am that fished the entire circuit had priority leaving little room to guys wanting to fish single tourneys. Now with RCL, amatuers have more options for the pro-am experience.Everyone should do it at least 1 time.A person can never stop learning.

I fished the am pwt on erie last year and had a great time and met great people but I will not do it again because the ams only get gifts not cash.

This continueing argument over which circuit is better is absurd. Both circuits offer competitors wonderful opportunities. I have fished two years as a PWT Pro and competed as a pro in the RCL last October. Both organizations provide a professionally run tournament. After much contimplation, I have chosen to again compete on the PWT this year, yet will try to qualify for the RCL Championship. I did what I felt worked best for myself and my sponsors.I was not pushed or persuaded by my sponsors to chose either circuit; they realize that both offer valuable.
I believe both circuits can coexist and flourish. So chose the circuit that works best for you and stop the bickering. Please!
