HAPPY FISHING
RAIDER
I was there today fishing the Western Pennsylvania Anglers Association walleye tournament and we lit then up!!!!!Brought home 2 limits but easily caught between 30-40 walleyes today with the majority over 15".The ones that are over 17" were very hard to find though.Caught all our fish trolling in 17-23ft of water right on the bottom with crankbaits. It was fun until the hurricane like winds and rain blew threw around 2:00 and we called it a day although we had another hour to fish.Oh and something was very weird about the smell of the walleye at Pyma......some smelled like, bluegill, others smelled like crappie and trout,LOL.(prettty funny ha LCL).Great lake and looking forward to fishing it again.TightLines,Kdog(KeithWalters)
So dog how did you do? YOu caught alot of fish, but were they the right fish?
DUDE,
We came in 4th so we did ok,,,,,Kenny and Nate won it and also took big fish.Im glad cause those guys will need the $$$ for Mille Lacs in a few weeks. We were the only WRWA teams to fish it,i think the weather forecast scared a few guys away(DENNY SHARRONE SR.,,,LOL).Anyway it was a great bite just couldnt get a kicker fish.Had what felt like a REAL good one come unbuttoned with only 15ft of line to go but never got a look at her.In my mind she was at least 5lbs and shes getting bigger by the second.Later,Kdog

Hey Kdog
I am going up for the PM bite on Wed. Were you fishing the south end? Also what kind of lure were you using? Any Info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Grizz
Grizz,
Yes we were fishing the south end pretty much rite in the middle of the lake from Duck and Drake north to about 1/2 mile from the causeway. We were using #5 Shad Raps, rite on the bottom, lost some lures but it was worth it!Colors didnt seem to matter much.GoodLuck,Kdog

Kdog:
Did you use leadcore or snap-weights to get those #5 Shad Raps down to the bottom? Or do they go that deep wihout any extra assistance? I usually use Reef Runner Little Rippers on three colors of leadcore.
It's good to hear that the fish are turning on there. I will be vacationing at Pymatuning in a couple months and can't wait!
Thanks for the info.
Roy G.
Roy,
I use leadcore and also use these small dypsies about the size of a 50cent piece. With these you dont let out as much line as you do leadcore, both methods work for me.I tried little rippers and only pulled one on it so i stuck what was catching me the most fish.We havent had much luck with suspended fish yet, there pretty much relating to the bottom.Im sure once the water temp gets into the 60's we'll be able to just flatline deep diving cranks to get plenty of fish.Water temp sunday was 52*-53*.Pyma is a great walleye factory and the 15 -16" fish seemed really chunky and healthy.TightLines,Kdog(KeithWalters)
Good job representing the WRWA KDog!
Were most of the teams fishing the South side?
Did the winning team get their fish by trolling also?
I'm paid in and signed up for the PLA Round-up this Sat. This will be my third try to get into a Tournament this year! I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that nothing prevents me from getting out this time.
I'm hoping to be out on Pymy Wed. and Fri. trying find out where the big girls are hiding!
The PLA only weighs three fish per team, and last years winners were around 10lbs. You see the same names at top for both 2001 tournaments. You gotta give those guy credit.
Will try to report how it went Wed. and Fri.
Great report kdog I have been trying to tell everyone the fish taste great, never had a bad one from this lake.Again congrats on your placing in the tourmament last week. LCL
TMK1,
I think about 6 boats went to the north side and the rest stayed on the south end.So the majority fished the south end.The winners of the tournament also belong to the WRWA circuit and yes they also trolled.Goodluck in the tournament i hope you find a few big girls,If you fish the area i mentioned you should easily pull 3 fish there.TightLines,Kdog
LCL,
Thanks for the compliment!Wish i would have known you were running Duck and Drake when my club,WRWA,had our tourney there 2 weeks ago.I stopped in early before the tournament with 2 buddies i fish against but didnt introduce myself.Next time im there i'll definately stop in and see how the trolling bite has been.Good luck with running your Walleye Roundup tournament,im sure it will be a great success.TightLines,Kdog(KeithWalters)
