I am in need of a new locator. I am pretty convinced that I will go with Pinpoint. However, available information is pretty meager on the 7320 and 7420. I was just at Cabelas in Michigan today and they don't have them yet and do not know when they will get them.

The only differences between these new models and the 7520 that can be discerned from the catalog write ups is that they have 3.5" x 3.5" screens, 7320 has 160 vertical pixals and the 7420 has 240. Aside from that there are no details. It would stand to reason that there must be more to it than that for cost difference.

Pinpoint could really use a good web site.

Can anyone fill me in on the differences between the 7420 and 7520 other than display?

Thanks for any responses.

the software in both appears similar however the big difference for me was the display. Not the size but in the 7420 and 7320 they did not use the brighter LCD screen like you see in the 7500, 7800 or Lowrance X-85. It has backlighting but not the brighter screen (like the difference between Lowrance and Eagle). I thought the screen was hard to see, no matter how I adjusted contrast and backlighting, and it would be even harder to see in bright sun light...... so I went with a 7500 for the trolling motor (especially since Cabela's has such great sales on them now. The 7420 at Reed;s is $449 and the 7500 at Cabela's is $399 - $200 dollars off). If you need a stand alone this isn't helpful but if your looking to put one on a pinpoint trolling motor, this is a great time to buy. Again, from what I can tell, the software seems the same on the 7420 and the 7500. There may be some other internal changes but they don't seem obvious. I'm not a pinpoint expert but just what I observed in the last month while upgrading.

The 7320 with a 160 x 160 pixel count and 2090 pixels / inch vs the 7420 with 240 x 240 pixels that has 4702 pixels / inch. That makes definition and target seperation the major difference. I believe all other features and functions are the same.
