Any good or bad reports from the weekend??

Roger, We had one heck of a day.... 35 LM Bass put in the boat in 6.5 hours, 3 guys. Wind drifting over stump fields, casting cranks. Nothing great for size, 12 - 18"? They put up a great fight, w/water temps in the mid to upper 50's. Central part of the state, is the best I can do, for the location....

REW,
Vilas county had good action for males. Most of the lakes haven't seen a spawn yet. Males are milking super heavy. Best fishing yet to come. Had about 75 fish over the weekend. All males, 16 of them 15 to 17 inches. Cool temps and windy. Water 41-43 degrees.

Hit the St. Croix Saturday Afternoon with my 4 year old son. It was his first opener. We caught about 8 white bass, 1 sauger @ 17" and 1 walleye @ 16", all fish still in the river waiting to be caught. It was a very nice evening on the water with low boat traffic. Great to be out fishing with my boy!

Here in Sawyer co. I had reports of good action on the flowages. The fish were going pretty good on the Chip and here on Moose lake the groups our guests here at our resort were in all did very well and Moose still has a 5 fish limit. Lots of smaller males but quite a few nicer females mixed in too. Quite a few nice smallies and some decent muskies too jumped on a jig and minnow here. The action was good on the opener and with the weather not warming all that much, should be good for the next couple weeks too.

Holcombe Flowage, NW Wisconsin, Chippewa County, I ran up to where the Jump River comes in and fished the river channel with Slo Poke jigs and fat heads. Seven eyes between 2 and 3 1/2 lb, 2 bonus smallies (all fish released). Sunday the warden (wife) would only allow 3 hours and my fish had moved (or the third front in two days shut 'em down) could only pull two fish. Salavged the trip with half a dozen bonus crappie within 50 feet of my back door. Good thing the wife didn't see it, she'd make me get rid of the new boat and stick to dock fishing.:)

We fished six different lakes in Vilas and Oneida Counties and didn't fair as well. Cold front and windy conditions made it difficult to both fish and catch fish. Talked to a lot of other boaters who didn't have much opening day luck. I'm glad to see someone out there did well.
