I will be going to leech the last week in may anyone have any tips.
If you haven't been there before - hire a guide.
If you are there for a week - a day with a guide will make the rest of the week enjoyable. Other wise - you might spend 5 days figuring out where and how to fish this fairly large lake.
If you don't hire a guide - check with the local bait shops and your resort owner.
In general - at this time of year - there are about 3 presentations.
1. Chartruse jig and shiner minnow.
2. Lindy rig - with a minnow, crawler, or leech.
3. Crank bait in the evening over shallow flats.
Leech is well known to be a windy lake. Many folks like to fish the wind blown points.
However, equal success can be had by fishing weed lines - rice beds and isolated rock piles.
At this time of year - you will be finding active fish typically in the 10-15 foot range. During mid day - you might have to fish down to 30 feet - if the day is calm and bright.
At night - you might be fishing as shallow as 4 feet.
Classic cases - rocky points, weed lines, isolated mid lake humps, and shoreline inlets.
Take care

Bob, been going up to Leech for 4 yrs now. We stay on Sucker Bay and fishing has been good enough in the bay that I haven't explored much beyond it. We're up there the first week in June. Jigs(green) and minnows have worked o.k., but for us but the flat out best rig has been a modified lindy-rig with a leech. We use a slinky-type 1/4 oz. sinker followed by a 24"-32" leader and a colored bait hook. Last year there was a carpet of short weeds on the bottom that tended to foul our presentation, substituting a Phelps floater did the trick. Good depths were in the 12'-17' range in both windy and calm conditions, drifting with the wind and trolling with no wind. Hope this helps.
Leeches used as said by the last post will get you larger fish; jig and minnow more fish. My favorite place. have Fun!!
