Anyone have ideas on where to find the best deal to purchase a new self-leveling transducer for my Vexilar FL-8? Thanks for your responses.

I would go to http://www.vexilar.com/xdcrs.html an see what your best value for your needs would be. Consider upgrading to the TB0052 Dual Beam Ice-Ducer.

More user options with the duel beam http://www.vexilar.com/images/tb0052.gif that will solve a few common problems like deep water cone angle range overlap while fishing close to another angler. Handy to have the 9/19 option with a flip of a switch.

Getting late in the season so comparison shopping at Reed's or Fleet Farm may produce a slightly better deal than factory direct.

If you had problems with the old ducer and it may still be under warranty so check in with the folks at Vexilar, they are great in dealing with product exchanges. I had a poor transducer an they exchanged it ASAP, no charge. If so they may pro-rate the exchange to a upgrade if you sweet talk them some, worth a shot!

Thanks for the very helpful sites. There is nothing wrong with my transducer except that it is extremely difficult to level. The new floating transducers really seem to work great for the guys I've seen using them. Do you suppose I can use what you recommended (9/19) on my older model Vexilar FL-8? The model I have is not an Fl-8 xls. Thanks again.

The icr-ducer will work with all the fl8's the only thing is that they don't perform well in current! But I have a vexilar and love it to pieces! Get 2 transducers and your set!

I think you can as the switch on the (9-19) in on the cable. But ask Vexilar if it is compatable they will be happy to answer any questions on there web site by email.

Just talked to the vexilar staff at the Walleye Expo at Canterbury and the told me that the unit has never changed so all vexilar transducers work on all vexilars from day one. The hookup is the same on them all and they said it would cost 59$ at a sporting goods store that carry them.

Hope this helps
