The budget bill from Governor Taft is considering license fee increase, the elimination of the free licenses issued to seniors, the disabled and disabled venterans. They are also concidering a youth fishing license. The governor also wants to charge the Divsion of Wildlife for central support services provided by the Department of Natural Resources.

While a need for additional funding for the Division of Wildlife is understood just remember there hasn't been an increase in commercial fishing license and royalty fees in over 25 yrs. The cost of sport fishing license has tripled. As tax payors the sport fishermen are already paying the state for the central support services provided to the ODOW. The Gov would like us to pay twice for this service.

Sport fishing license have dropped from 1.2 mill in 1990 to about .8 mill in 2000 due in no small part to the decline in the Lake Erie fishery.
Please contact Bob Sexton of the Ohio Wildlife Legislation Fund to express your concerns. In addition the Governor, Director of the ODNR and Chief of the ODOW need to be contacted. IT'S OUR FISHERY TO PROTECT OR LOSE!
