I was fishing the brush a couple weeks ago for crappie when I saw a skeleton that look like a human spinal cord. After closer inspection it had a head like a flathead catfish. It was huge, the tail bones were easily has large as a human spinal cord. I would say it was, when alive around the same size you caught. Would have been a good bait shop display, the bones were in great shape. My buddy was down there yesterday and the ramps were over flowing, lake up another 2 feet.
Good Luck!

Hey Tim, do you think an 18-foot boat on a tandem axle trailer would have any trouble launching? I assume everyone is talking about the state ramp on the southwest corner of the lake when they are talking about flooded ramp conditions. I am looking for a possible alternative to a stormy Lake Erie this weekend and it sounds like Mosquito might be just the ticket.

I launched there today and yesterday. If you have a vehicle with high ground clearance, no problem, a small Chevy Nova was over the door jams this morning. Take some boots, especially if you are by yourself.
NO LUCK

Limited out 8 of the last 9 times, they are in 20 to 22 feet of water, on the bottom. Drift, troll, whatever, and you should get them. THE WEATHER LOOKS TO BE THE ENEMY , for the next week. Winds were high out of the South today, perfect, North wind tomorrow, I will take the day off and get caught up at home.

Hey Luredaddy -- I have a two-wheel-drive Dodge Dakota. Think I would have any trouble with that? Are there alternatives to the state ramp on the southwest end of the lake? I remember launching once from a smaller ramp on the east side of the lake, about mid-way up the lakeshore. Might that be a steeper ramp on higher ground?

I would stay at the state park, especially with the winds we have been having, it is very protected. Should be no problem with Dakota, take boots!

I launch a 19 foot Erie boat at the state park with no trouble make sure you get there early!

(miserable)...lol......just how the walleye love it........
got a few nice 1s just outside the park and drifted down towards the house on the dam......got them on the bars that go from 20 ft to to 12ft deep couple 19inchers others were 15.....(floating jigs)
