Plan to be mostly on the East side of Mille Lacs beginning Friday 5/24 and a week thereafter. Early reports have been good on the North sand. Any other areas working yet? Anyone try the gravel or mud yet? Too early? Water temp too low?

There are fish on the mud,the sand and the rock piles. If you want to try and catch fish to eat, stay on the sand. If you want bigger fish just for the fun of it, go to the mud or the rock piles. We had 40 - 70 fish days Thursday through Sunday last week and we fished all of these areas.
Good Luck.
I fish two weeks straight the same time each year. Sounds much the same this year as last. Water temp might be cooler this year?

Todays water temp is 49 degrees. Fished the southwest shallow sand/gravel/rock mix near Eddys. Windy and rough today, only fished for two hours, caught seven fish but really had to work for them. I even caught a slot fish, all others were 20"-22". There talking storms and even higher winds for the rest of the week. All fish came off of leechs. Started with long snells (10')and ended up cutting them down to about 5' and started getting fish. All fish came out of 15 feet of water. Good Luck!

Want 2 be,
I took 5th in the Cabela's tourney by fishing the sand in 14-16 ft. just south of Flamingo Reef on the east side. Lindy rigs w/6-10 ft. leaders and either blue or green hooks. Also, stick with the medium size leeches. Good Luck. MURFA
