BIG MANISTIQUE LAKE

I am having trouble finding fish on Big Manistque lake in curtis. I fished all weekend never caught a walleye I need help. The two bait shops in town were no help at all they said yes they are catching fish but did not know were or what people were using. I could not belive that after sending $50 in there store they could not point me in the right direction any way i was woundering if there is anybody that could help me out?

Suggest that you fish another lake - took me a week of working that lake over to figure out that it's fish poor these days form years of overfishing and a discontinued stocking program. Locals will tell you nothing of that situation - Commerce rules. Years ago the lake was great !!!! Can't take and take in large numbers and not have a program for putting back ( Empty ). Your not the only one that has gone fishless there these past few years.

I have a cabin near there (Blaney Park) and I have aslo fished there the last few years with nothing. I believe in its day the lake was good but not anymore. There is another lake nearby named Milakokia, it's OK in early spring before the weeds take over, but then that lake has really gone down too.

Cormorants (fish eating bird) is or was a big problem on that lake.
