I have fished West Basin but not the Michigan side, so this is a first and another license.
I am going to fish the area this weekend. A recent fishing report would be appreciated. Also any general about fishing in that area would also help. Looking at the map there appears to be some shallow areas. Are there any hazards to be aware of?
Should you fish over the area marked as stakes?
Thanks in advance for any help.

If you come out of Bolles Harbor, don't go north too quick, there is a sand bar that extends out aways, probably 1 mile or so. I haven't been over that far this year, and the water levels a little higher now, but thats the only hazard I've run into. Straight out from Bolles has been fairly decent, but beware of the Mich-Ohio line. If you make it out to the Shipping Channel, I believe your in Ohio water. Did pretty good out there Sunday morning, in 20'-22' on Copper blade bottom bouncers, (2 1/2 oz)trolling 1.1-1.3mph. Everyone seems to be trolling fairly slow to get em going. They may be turning on to the Stinger spoons, with the water temp going up. I was showing 64 degrees on my graph. Don't know how accurate it is, but it went up about 10 degrees from last week. Can't help you on the net stakes, I never payed much attention to them, and they never bothered me. With the weather looking nasty all week, don't know how the weekend will be, but its worth a try.

Thanks John, the sandbar info is what I was looking for. I know what you mean about the weather but it looks like thurs and fri it will be clearing with a nice day on sat. Hope that is enough to settle it down some. I already have reservations.
I have heard that the nice thing about this area is that it is the least affected by the wind. I have my Ohio license for the year so I should be ok there.
