Well, my son and I fished Chautauqua Saturday and Sunday for about an hour and a half each (my son was proud of himself for staying out so long!), and didn't pick up any walleye, but did catch a few small bass. Fished out of Camp Chautauqua Saturday and just stayed in the small bay above their launch, and Sunday we launched out of the Lakewood Community launch and trolled worm harnesses in 10 to 15'around the south end. Gilligan, and all who helped with advice for this past weekend, thanks for your help, we will definitely be back.
By the way, the action was hot in the Camp Chautauqua fishing pond... one sunnie after another!

Duane..I ran up around Pendagrast Saturday hoping to run into you. Spent the better part of my day putting breakin hours on the new motors. Little fishing I did didnt produce much.. Drifted several spots on the north end and then trolled down around Chenny Farms. Friend that has a camp there and fishes it 3-4 days a week got shut out Thursday and Friday and finaly went crappie fishing to finish the week off. Talked to ROYGPA at the launch they had taken just 2 fish in 2 days. Areas of weed beds where I do well at on the south end had NO weeds! Don't know whats up there?? Hope to be back up for 2 days this weekend, it's gotta turn on sometime:-(

Gilligan, I was hoping to run into you as well, but never made it to Prendergast. We came up through a massive bed of weeds from the Lakewood launch, but once we got through them, poof they were gone. Did find a couple more weed beds in about 12' of water another 100 yards up, but you could tell where the main weed line ended by the chain of boats that were anchored along it!
I hope to be back with my friend this summer to get some serious time on the water, as he's got a 14' Sea Nymph that is much better suited for that lake. We did okay in the flat bottom until the wind picked up, then it was time to get off the water. I'll let you know when we're going to be up, and I'll make it a point to try to find you and introduce myself.
Catch ya later,
Duane

Forgot to mention, we did stop at Hogan's Hut and asked how the walleye action has been, and he said just so-so. Didn't elaborate...

Hello,
The bite should be on whats up? Its been tough on every lake I fished this season. Must be the weather we had this spring. Chautauqua is good year round. Did they put a hurt on them last year? I know a great number of 18-25 inch fish were removed from that lake.

With no winter ice there should be tons of fish.. really seem to be scattered right now. Past several years there has been lots of forage and fish didnt need to do much for a meal, not seeing that much bait this year.

Gilligan,
I have only fished it a few times this year but you are right I haven't seen the bait fish like I have in the past. I'm going to start fishing it more have vacation coming up and I JUST LOVE TO FISH CHAUTAUQUA DURING THE WEEK! More room if you know what I mean.
Take care and good luck.

I think our slow-to-emerge-weeds are a victim of too much rain, and too little sun. That simple. The sun will get them to emerge. We just might be a few week's behind.Another thing with bait, may be the same problem. In the spring, the sun causes so many plant's and animal's to change. It's been a little wet to be the same,or say, normal.Just my 2 cents. The same at another lake I know, seeing few minnow's,and bait seem's scarce.Raystown.Very clear. Easy to see fish in the shallows. Seeing alot of Bluegill. Big one's too.Maybe they're taking advantage of some slow to emerge bait.Just a thought. But hey,we can overcome that, right? Hit the spring spots,a little furthur into summer.I know I will.Got stuck last week, and missed Chautauqua, but it's on my list in the very near future.

Havn't been there myself yet but I was coaching my sons T-ball team tuesday and a buddy came up to me that fished Chat. the day before and boated 4 fish nothing less than 4 lbs. and last night a guy came into the baitshop and had a chat. limit, he weighed 2 of them one was 3.5lbs the other was 4. Both were fishing deep trolling harnesses and I know where and can't bring myself to type it. I will say between longpoint and the bridge though.
