Recently visited Walleye Expo and was gathering info for my new sonar I plan to purchase shortly.I have been gathering info for about 3 months now and have it narrowed to 2 units. For all at Walleye Central, which unit is better, Pinpoint 7520 or Vexilar Edge?I am leaning towards the Vexilar because I can shoot thru my hull at the pad section, and also because it won't interfear with my x-85.
I like the Vexilar because physics wise it should do what it claims.e.g.(400khz 10deg.cone for target seperation,107khz 38deg.cone for coverage)But I have ran across two fairly sharp salesman that have claimed to use both and they claim the Pinpoint blows it away.(more pixels per square inch?)I really did not get any solid evidence with specs. and they had no literature.I walked away feeling as if the Pinpoint was magical!
I have never used a Pinpoint and know nothing about them,is this all smoke and mirrors or is there some physics to back up the claims?
I have owned 3 Vexilar flashers and have been very satified with thier performance.I am not interested in Zercom LPG 2000,although I have a mild interest in the new X-15(scan speed super slow)seems to have more features than I would ever have time to use!(great resolution though)

Thank in advance,

I have used the Vex. Edge2 for the last two years. I have also seen the Pinpoint 7520 in action. Put these two units side by side and I don't think there is much difference. The real selling point for me was the duel ability in the Vex. Fantastic shallow water performance with the 107 khz and great deep water performance with the 400 khz. I have had several pros tell me that after using both of these units, the Vexilar is an all around better unit. Last weekend at the Walleye Expo I was in conversation with a noted PWT pro walleye angler and he told me that the Vexilar is the best unit out there for under $1000., by the way, he doesn't use one, he uses a unit that costs $1800.and wasn't in the Vexilar booth either. Pinpoint is a good unit, all of their products are first class, but I still feel like for the money, the Vexilar is just a little better. This is my opinion, and I have nothing against Pinpoint products.
