Erie or Detroit?

I'm taking some co-workers out Friday in search of eyes. All are novices. Plan A is Erie (of course), but I need a plan B in the event of poor weather. Nothing's worse than a boat full of Erie virgins in 4-6's. Is anything still happening on the Detroit River?

Tom, I did pretty good handlining in the middle of the day Sunday (to my suprise), but its pretty much a night bite now.
If you want, drop me a line, maybe I could give you a few spots to try not so far out in the lake.

My buddy and I limited Saturday and Sunday by 9:30 at the mouth of the Detroit River jigging with live crawlers. The handliners didn't do nearly as well. Get out early, things slowed by 8:00. There seems to be quite a few fish in that area now.

There's something a lot worse than a boatful of Erie virgins in 4-6s: me on Erie in 4-6s :-)

My last few trips have been to the lake, so I can't help you with river reports. Something you may want to consider as a backup is that there are some huge perch biting from south of the river mouth out to the Detroit River lighthouse now.
