Thanks,

I was there Monday (10th) at daybreak. Trolled the big island with spinner, worm and bottom bouncer - couple catfish, only made two passes and gave up. Tried around the submerged road, couple catfish. NO Walleye - talked to a couple others - lots of cats - no walleye, a few white bass.

I was about 50/50 bass/walleye - not really good on either - water was 77 degrees clear, about normal pool,

AND NO I'M NOT A SENECA WALLEYE EXPERT - open to any suggestions.

I haven't seen Jim Corey on-line much for the last several weeks .. the last I heard from Jim was that he had some unresolved I-Net Bug problems & a heavy workload. I hope he can answer a few Qs before the tourney :-). See you there Toolman, I'll be fishin' with Jeff/ILreel!

your going to have to do your homework and figure it out yourself

Seneca Lake was picked for this event because of its fairly central location, ramp/parking facilities, and the variety of fish-holding locations and presentations. The Walleyes here can be successfully targeted with Crankbaits, either trolled or casted, jigs, spoons, bladebaits, harness/bouncers, slip bobbers, etc..Of the last 9 events hosted by the Southern Ohio Walleye Club on this lake, 1 was won on bouncer/crawler harnesses, 1 on jigs, 2 trolling cranks, 1 casting cranks on windy rocks, and 4 on jigging spoons. There are many rocky points, sharp drops, shale banks, humps, flats, roadbeds, etc., that hold feeding Walleyes. Substrates include mud, sand, gravel, rock, and shale. The forage base consists mainly of Gizzard Shad but the young-of-the-year White Bass are also a prime forage when they are of the right size. Other forage includes Crawfish, Mayflies, small Perch, Bass, Crappies, etc..

I fished all day sat. 15th, managed 1 keeper on crawler harness in 12 ft. water.I fish this lake frequently bu don't have much luck as I seldom get a chance to go when they are hitting. You know-Should have been here yesterday! I talk to a lot of people fishing here and it seems that this is a shallow bite lake as a lot of bass fishermen catch walleyes while bassin the banks. Also I've heard the best time of day is the middle of the afternoon on a hot summer day in 2 to 5 ft. of water. Probably do to the normal turbidity of this lake do to powerboaters and jet skiers tearing up the lake. Especially on weekends!

Hey .. Thanks for the Info Timbo toolman & Jim Corey! :-)

Kinda sounds more like S-Eye methods than W-Eye .. anyway, I haven't been on Seneca since the 70s in a Bass tourney. Jeff & I are not prefishin' & we wanted to mostly attend the tourney/event to meet other Ohio I-Guys & get away from IL for a day, as we are a pair of IL S-Eye Guys - (BASS) Harry/Raybob & Charlie/Jeff :-). You'll probably see us out in the middle doin' a Erie program w/PBs .. is there a Boobie Prize for the largest Skiier hung on a PB :-)

We'll have Fun & we hope someone drops the Hammer!
See Ya,
Ray

Update from Jim Corey on the Seneca Tourney:

Sorry but all the time that I have available to spend on the 'Puter has been taken up
with fighting viruses and trying to maintain my sanity. I'm beginning to hate this darn
thing.
We still stand at less than 40 pre-registered, which is great for Ohio. Erie and the
Ohio River have Buckeye anglers conditioned to wait till the last minute to see what
the weather does. There have been a few cancellations due to a larger event out of
state that conflicts on the same date. Reports of 'Eye fishing on Seneca are conflicting.
Some anglers are doing well and others are doing poorly. Casting jig/tail combos
seems to be the ticket right now but that could change drastically between now and
the event. We are still looking for nearly a full field on the 29th. See you guys there!!!!
