LAST EDITED ON Feb-06-01 AT 09:11AM (CST)[p]It's Official, Bombardier is the new owner of the Evinrude/Johnson brands of outboards.
The bidding process is complete, I just spoke to one of the top people at OMC and everyone there is absolutely ecstatic!!!
Not because of just being purchased but because of what Bombardier will do to make those two companies the best possible!!!
The Wait Is over!!!!
Scott Golden, There are 26 Rude Rams in the Georgia facility.

Thats Great! I know my dealer was pushing for Bombardier, he believes that the motors and the company will be better than ever.

P.S. Eric did you ship my model 35 last week? It still has not arrived.

Actually, Sea-doo jet boats use Mercury jet drives, so maybe they'll start putting OMC jet drives in them?

Now....... If they decide to start putting rotax engines in the outboards, then I'll definately buy one, but I guess the chances of that would be slim.

What's a Rude Ram????

Simple

It is an Evinrude that spouts obscenities and pinches passing women on the tushy! Oh wait, that'd be me standing behind the motor. LOL. Truthfully, a Rude Ram is a Evinrude Ficht all hopped up on Goof Balls! They are powered to the gills.

Other way around. They wanted to get that Ficht tech for their snow sleds, water bikes and future ATVs. They want to beat the Feds to the punch on cleaner burning engines. With mounting pressure for National Park access, Ski-Doo want to be head and shoulders above the competition. Think about all the sleds that the park rangers and other state agencies need. This will put Bombadier at the top of the pile in a hurry. The Sierra Club and other tree hugging groups are going to love that one.

I hope that they also buy the PrinceCraft line as well, since it is a Canadian Company, too.

Montréal, February 6, 2001- Bombardier announced today that its subsidiary Bombardier Motor Corporation of America and JTC Acquisition LLC have been selected the highest and otherwise best bidders for the assets of Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) and certain of its affiliates at an auction administered under an order of the Bankruptcy Court of Illinois.
In December 2000, OMC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, suspended operations and initiated an auction process to liquidate its assets.

The joint bid by Bombardier and JTC is for a consideration of $95 million US. The sale is subject to bankruptcy court approval at a hearing to be held on Thursday February 8, 2001 and regulatory approval. Upon closing, Bombardier Motor Corporation of America will receive specified engine assets and JTC Acquisiton LLC will receive the boat assets. The engine assets include the Evinrude and Johnson outboard marine engine brands as well as the FICHT fuel injection technology.

JTC Acquisiton LLC is an affiliate of Genmar Industries.

Bombardier Inc., a diversified manufacturing and service company, is a world leading manufacturer of business jets, regional aircraft, rail transportation equipment and motorized recreational products. It is also a provider of financial services and asset management. The Corporation employs 56,000 people in 12 countries in North America, Europe and Asia, and more than 90% of its revenues are generated outside Canada.

That would be really good if the ficht technology could work out okay in the sleds and sea doos. Especially the latter, as they are extremely harmfull to our lakes and air. I will admit that I am very environmentally conscious, but also very realistic. It's a wonder that no EFI systems ever caught on in the sled industry.
