Am also going to the Western Basin this weekend and would like to know about the Walleye fishing and especially whats going on with the smallmouth, where and what baits?
Thanks
Tom,
There are still numbers of smaller (17 - 21") eyes out by the turn around bouy. That's the last bouy coming out of Toledo, west of West Sister. I'm sure there are pockets of fish from the islands over to west sister as well. There's a mixed bag size wise between Kelly Shoal and Middle Bass. I'd bet my supper I could catch fish off the hump on the east side of Perry's Monument also. Evenings look for them to come up on West Reef, Buckeye, and off Luci's Point. The area around Rattle Snake can be good late in the day also. Good luck, you should not want for fish.

ETT,
You just gave up one of favorite spots! Just off of the 4 cottages.
Tracy
Tracy,
Your favorite spot (opps ....sorry); or my favorite spot (oh well, I was looking for a good spot when I found that one).
I'm not a big believer in magic spots. I most certainly aware there are places the fish want to be, but the variables have to be right. Most of those areas are somewhat community spots anyway.
The spot that is most reliable to me, I don't get to very often, and for the life of me, I have no idea why it holds active fish. It's out in the middle of nowhere, and I haven't been close enough to run over there in 2 years. But it's never failed to give me a few fish. (maybe I do believe in magic spots after all) LOL.
Good luck, ... now I just gotta figure out which 4 cottages you're talking about. LOL
