Left July 4th at midnight to get to Dunkirk NY at 6:30 am Friday with my son, only to find 15-20 knot winds and the lake pushing 4-6 foot waves, definetely not the water for my Crestliner FishHawk 1750!!!! Hung around all day hoping for the blow to let up and it did about 5 pm, and we launched for an evening troll. We headed due east out to the 70-75' water that I had luck in last year after fishing in the PWT tourney, with 1-3' waves, making the run not so bad. We were marking fish deep, about 50' and lower. and began with 2 gold harnesses on 3 oz. bottom bouncers and 1 gold #11 Rapala on a 40 jet, and 1 purple Reef Runner on a 30 jet, both on boards at 150' back. we ended up with 1 19" walleye from the harness, aand 2 sheeps from the stickbaits. On Saturday we headed in the same area at dawn, and by 2:30 we had 7 walleye to 8 1/2 pounds, the 2 largest on firetiger Renosky glows, and the rest on the harnesses, brass confusion stinger spoons and purple Reefrunners, only in the 70-75' bottom, but at almost any depth in that area, using 20, 30, 40 jets and at the bottom, 1.5-2.5 mph. We headed in when the water went up to 2-4', even though we just did a walleye and a sheep at the same time on 2 poles, and didn't want to get caught if the waves increased, being we were almost 12 miles from the launch. Wish we could have stayed another day.
