Heading there this weekend for the first time this weekend. Any info would be helpful. Techniques, depth location any thing would be great. thanks in advance.
We just held the state circuit tournament there this last weekend. 47 lbs and some change won it. About 25 lbs is where the money started(15th place). The winners stated they caught their fish in 18'-30' depths. Have talked to a few others and seem there were definitely some fish caught in the 20'-25' range. We caught the majority of ours in 16'-18'. Also got a few in the 12' area. Our fish were all caught on bouncers and metal color spinners(Hammered gold and chrome did the best). Others caught them on cranks and still others I know on jigs. All seemed to like the 15'-25' range. Peck can and will produce using all the basic techniques. Best bet is to start with something that will allow you to cover alot of water and then when you find fish you can go back and slow it down and fish the area hard. Good luck, feel free to email with any questions.. See ya, RJ in Montana...

The bite was red hot at 12 feet early last week, but there was little wind, blazing sun and high temperatures during the ##### Creek Tourney and that is likely why the fish went deep. With a little wind and waves, the 12 to 15 foot depths have been fishing well.
Just about all techniques are working -- spinners and crawler harnesses, live bait rigs, crankbaits. Crawlers and leeches are working.
For me, the hot crankbait colors were blue in the clear water and something with chartreuse in the mudlines and stained water. Others told me color didn't matter much -- it was all a matter of finding the depth the walleyes were working.
You'll find a link to a current fishing report at: www.mondakmarine.com and the Billings Gazette will have its weekly report in the paper on Thursday morning and online at www.billingsgazette.com.
Good luck up there. Some good fish are being caught this year (and some little dinks, too). -- mark
