Just thought I'd get some feedback from you guys and gals regarding your plans for your first trip once the hard water breaks. If you're like me, you sit through the winter months dreaming of getting that new (or same) rig wet. Where will you go and what strategies will you employ for your first trip?
This may give all of us an idea or two that we haven't yet tried in the early Spring days. Post on!

For 8 of the past 10 years, several of us have gone to Baileys Harbor (Door County, WI) for the annual brown trout tourney. It is usually the last weekend in April (Th thru Sun). Weather can be tough and fishing can be tough but it is an opportunity to catch some nice browns before inland game fish open in May. The prize structure is not bad, as they place the top 40 on the leader board. And there are lots of drawings at the Sun afternoon awards meeting. There will probably be somewhere in the 450 to 500 range of participants. Fellowship and food are highlights of the long weekend.

If the Saginaw River opens up before the season closes on March 15 there is no other place to be. Vertical jigging for Hawg eye's with a chance for a 12# fish!!!!!! After March 15 everyone runs to the Detroit for the rest of the spring. Tight Lines
