We take 3 to 4 Dozen per person on Lake Erie which has a 30 perch limit. If the minnows are big, you can use halfs. Perch don't seem to mind when they are biting good. It is also a good idea to use half if they are stealing them or you are getting low and not near limit. You do have to bounce the bait a tad bit more though. Better limit with a few left then to run out. Hope this helpes.

Well, the limit on perch is 30. So I would say at least 2 dozen per person. If the bite is on you can always get the dead ones out of the cooler that the perch spit up. If it were me I would take four dozen sometimes there picky and only like fresh ones.

I go into the bait store and tell them I need enough minnows for the #fish I need for a limit and they are good about hooking me up. The big ones you can cut into 3's and more. When I run low I usually throw some white perch in the cooler as a back up, cut them up in strips and they work well when the perch are in a frenzy. Make sure you get Emerald Lake Shiners, hands down they are the best, fatheads and the other crap some places sell dont work nearly as well.

I've been fishing perch for yrs now. I've found an artificial bait that beats all the others hands down. I dont want to advertise for the company( for free) on the net, so email me and i'll tell you personally. Chaunc@att.net they may be hard to find in your area.

If you start runnin low on minnows and you still are hammerin the perch , put a strip of pork rind on one of your hooks and they'll hit it just like the minnows. I like the strips that are white on one side and red on the other. They're cheap and they will save you a couple of dollars worth of minnows. They stay on the hook forever, too.

Chaunc, i presume this is rubber jig tail type bait? What do they look like, and what color/size do you prefer for Lake Erie perch? Also are they available in NE ohio stores like Wally world or others? Please tell memmore about the lift and drop technique aslo if you are willing. Thanks! IGI

by the way, I use eye balls for ice fishing and they work great, don't know abou tin open water but will try it.

ANy body have any suggestions on where the best location is currently of Ohio shorelkine to get a bunch of 'JUMBOS"?
