Everyone,
Next weekend, I will haul my boat, girlfriend and kids from Colorado up to Osakis for a few days of Walleye fishing... Can anyone provide a report about where and what they're biting up there?
Thanks much,

Lake Osakis in MN right? I recently talked with a friend who has a cabin on Osakis, he says the bite has slowed but most of his fish are being caught off Battle Point during lowlight periods. Try spinners and crawlers or jig tipped with shiner minnows. Always ask the local bait stores what they have heard. Good luck.

Here's the report from outdoor weekly. They have a new one each Friday on their site(Often shows up Tburs.).
LAKE OSAKIS
Center Bar and the top side of the Four Mile Bar are the best bets for walleyes in 21 feet of water. Leeches have worked best during the early morning and evening hours. Work the main lake bars for sunfish in nine to 15 feet of water. Town Bay is a safe bet for northern pike in 10 to 12 feet of water. Sucker minnows have produced bigger fish. Bass also are very active throughout the submerged weed areas of Osakis.

morriscode and Borch,
Yep, Lake Osakis in Minnesota. Thanks for the info! I know this isn't exactly the best time of year for fishing, but I'm exicited to go nonetheless... Borch: can you post the URL for Outdoor Weekly?

I sure can. There are actually two different publications that post fishing reports. Both come out the same day.

P.S. I've had good luck pulling cranks after dark in past years. Shad raps in 6-12 ft has often produced. The clam beds on the south side have been good to me at times too in the morning.
Good Luck!
Probably not a report you want to hear, but my good friend and his in-laws were up there last week August 3-10 and only caught one walleye the entire week and that was off their dock!! Said the mayflies were hatching and the fishing was very difficult.
Things hopefully will change for the better before you arrive. Good luck!

Skis,
I guess I need to take my fly rod then :-) Oh well, I'll see how it goes. There should be other stuff to do during the middle of the day anyway like tubing, etc. Thanks for the reply.
